"If you are an adopter of Egyptian children, from the
Middle Ages to the present day, you may be called to testify in
a trial of two defendants charged with forging the records of
childbirths. The two defendants are Irene Auclair, born on the
island of Jersey, and her husband Frédéric, who is a French
citizen. They live in Burgundy and are accused of declaring
falsely the existence of the child Auclair was bearing when the
birth record was recorded. This act is contrary to the laws of
the French Republic and the law of France, which prohibits any
false statement in matters relating to the birth of children.
The court in Yverdon, in the Canton of Vaud, has agreed to
hear testimony from witnesses to the events of Auclair's
birth. Although the court's decision has been announced, it is
still awaiting the appearance of those witnesses. The trial
